Every Sunday evening the familiar faces fill our small living room. It’s Huddle night!
Jody and I both lead small discipleship groups that we call huddles. Our groups come together on Sunday and then split into mens and women groups. We laugh a lot, share struggles, dreams and successes. We talk about biblical truths and work to hear from the Lord and respond to his leading.
We’ve always dreamt of our house being a place where people can be vulnerable, safe and yet challenged to to pay attention to what the Lord is saying to them and then live it out in their workplace, neighborhood and the city. It’s starting to happen.
Huddle has kept me grounded this past year and helped me grow alongside believers my own age – which is tough in Portland! – Leanna
The vision of the huddle is deeply rooted in the Great Commission to go and make disciples. For us to make that happen we needed to put ourselves in position for 20-somethings to have access to our lives. It means they get to be in our homes, watching us live out marriage and raise our kids. It means they get to see us when we’re not perfect and sometime tired or frustrated, but deeply dependent on Jesus.
